Latin literature courses will also be offered for advanced students. Ørberg’s celebrated textbook Familia Romana and the revised Italian edition of Athenaze in addition to portions of classical prose and poetry. Over the course of month-long intensive classes, Latin and Greek students will make their way through Hans H. Students will have the opportunity to participate in daily seminars, colloquia, and composition exercises with teachers who have been employing the “nature” or “inductive-contextual” method in an immersive learning environment for more than ten years. The aim of these courses is to build reading and speaking proficiency for both beginners and more advanced students, enabling them to converse with the ancient authors using the same language in which they thought and wrote. We are pleased to announce that, for the first time since its inception, the Accademia Vivarium novum will be offering intensive online courses in Latin and Greek as a response to the unparalleled events surrounding the coronavirus and in place of our annual summer program.
